Demonstration for a bypass for Stanstead Abbotts. We would walk back and forth across the crossing forcing traffic to build up. The police used to clear the road when the hold up became excessive. Traffic through the village was non stop as it was the main A414 to Harlow. Photo April 1975. The bypass finally opened in 1987.
